John Waite Rough and Tumble

The sold-out house at Anthology was treated to the musical feast of John Waite's "Rough and Tumble" tour. The English singer-songwriter’s array of material and showmanship spanned 30 years.

Not only did he perform the 1984 mega hit "Missing You," but the set list included a rocking version of "All Along the Watchtower," "Head First," "Straight to Your Heart," and "Rough and Tumble." Thrown into the mix was the haunting ballad "Bluebird Café" and then the majestic "If You Ever Get Lonely." The encore of "When I See You Smile" was met with enthusiastic audience participation.
 

Waite made everyone feel at home in the Little Italy supper club. The blend of his recognizable voice — strong as ever — and tight guitar work were an engaging combination. Waite’s show was a generous mix of music from his band the Babys and his solo career. His performance was passionate and honest, a musical statement filled with style and verve.
